A strategic planning consultant for non-profits for 40 years, Safford worked with executive teams and boards of directors to build their specific plans for the future. Creating the dream and making it happen their way was the focus. Retired, George wants to build economic strength for small businesses as a way to strengthen communities and the regional economy. He is a specialist in nonprofit organizations and can help start-ups and well as existing nonprofits facing challenges. He worked for the University of Illinois at Chicago for 17 years building entrepreneurial skills for both UIC as well as its students. Building leaders and organizations developed naturally. George was associated with the Credit Union industry for over 50 years, that's non-profit financial co-ops for those unfamiliar with CUs! Now a community volunteer, George co-founded an all-volunteer community newspaper because the town needed it. With other friends he co-founded the city's Arts Council, Hospitality Association and helped modernize three chambers of commerce. Non-profits still have to generate profits to sustain their unique missions and dreams!
